Who Are We?
We are Tom, Sean and Andy.
Subtshirts came about because we all felt that the available T-shirt humour and sloganeering wasn’t often very amusing or thought provoking.
Our slightly off-kilter and somewhat bizarre sense of humour isn’t represented in current designs. So we decided to do something about it. We prefer the oblique rather than the obvious (although sometimes the obvious needs to be clearly stating!), and our collective sense of style and representation is probably mainly formed by the uniquely strange and somewhat oppressive British schooling system of the 70s and 80s – and subsequent individual experiences.
Our Designs
It's impossible to cater for everyone’s taste, although some sites do try. Conversely, addressing a niche market isn’t really worth the effort, so we have aimed to please everyone and no one. The theme for designs is something askance, something a little cynical and distinct, something that scratches the surface of consensus reality, something that pokes ‘informed opinion’ in the side; something startling and brash, something to tweak the eyes – and, we hope, a little piece of what little remains of counter-culture.
Customer submitted designs are accepted (please see out terms and conditions), and artist contributions are also welcome. Please see our ‘SUB-MISSIONS’ section for further information.

Sub-Missions
Ah, so you have a great design you want the world to see? Fantastic. We want to see it too. In the first instance, please send a picture of your design (any format) to : sub-missions@subtshirt.com. We will be introducing a voting system for submitted designs, but popularity is a fickle thing, so we don’t go too much on this. Sales figures are more important. Submitted designs are sorted by category and we offer a fixed percentage of net profit for each sale, to be accumulated at the end of each trading month. You can download or view an artist’s contract and terms and conditions here. Final artwork format We can accept PDF, native photoshop (7.0 or above), or full size JPEG (though this will limit final print quality) but vector graphics are better (EPS, SVG). The maximum size must not exceed 13.5 x 15.5 inches.
Terms and Conditions
Needless to say, even though we promote free speech and bold statements, racism, homophobia or any hate messages would be beyond even our pail. We're sure you can find other sites that will cater for these. Profanity, if you must use it, is fine, though naturally we (subtshirt.com or any of its employees or directors) cannot be held liable for any contravention of your country’s laws or legal circumstances arising out of you wearing any of our designs in public. The same goes for explicit artwork – we might not have a problem with it personally, but we're can't be bothered with the possible hassles in case we deem it socially offensive or extreme. Again, there are other niche sites that cater for this.
